The fix up

Wednesday, June 24, 2009

I really couldn't find any better picture than this one. The instant moment captured the intensity and flow of who-know-what I was doing. Day 3 of the trip, I've gone around to get a few goodies here and there for frds and fam bam. Taiwan's humidity's off the chart..plus the heat is really hard to endure.

..especially with the very long helmet above my head.

So I went by Brian's saloon again to chop some of it off.

Brian's a true artist. I enjoyed his master piece last year, I couldn't help but to go to him again.

My brother did, too.

Sorry ladies, this man's taken.

Here's Brian on the left.

The store's got some vibrant business cards, too.

Taiwan's flooded with eye-glasses shop. I saw more than 8 shops in a matter of a couple of blocks. We may be nerdy, but we are nerds with a sense of fashion. No joke.

I double checked my vision, everything's a green light. Nothing's gone worse. Woot.

Then I saw these in one of the shops. I HAD TO pick them up.

It's WOOD! Well, wooden texture, but made out of plastic with wires embedded within.

Then, we wrapped up the day with a chain restuarant called "Cafe Grazie".
Italian food with fairly decent price. Us five(My brother in law, sister, brother, and I) paid $40 for the following dishes:

That's 8 appetizers, 4 entrees, 4 drinks, and 4 desserts.

Hot dam.

Why hello Formosa

Arrival. This is not exactly up to date due to the lack of internet access for the past few days. Granted with no internet access, I've squeezed the juice out of each day to soak up that sun. and sweat.

First thing I notice on the way back home from the airport is the count-down street lights.

Would it encourage the drivers to treat every light as a race? Heard the government is going to take it down, soon. Not only does it start a race, many drivers also like take off a few seconds before the green light. The count-down device seems to be the perfect suicide machine.

Breakfast time: all for less than $6.

mmhmm.

One of the biggest chain store in Taiwan isn't Starbucks(though, plenty), but 7-11.

I thought we should try a new flavor now that we're back in Taiwan. So my brother and I tried the "honey bitter mellon" and "citron chrysanthemum tea"

I should've known how bad it'd taste just by the title.

Then we swung by a line of people.

Here's what they're waiting for:

Panda for approx. 40 cent(converting to US) each.

Very quickly, the morning's past. What's there better to do then swing by the night market.

Stores here doesn't close till 12 AM.

Food stands flooded the streets.

Then we ended the day by having our supper at this "Toilet Restaurant"

Good for a blog post, bad for dinner.

Trip to Taiwan/Day 1.5

Friday, June 19, 2009

Hello guys, I'm currently in HK International Airport waiting for the connecting flight to Taipei Taiwan. Like it seems, it'll be an almost a month trip to visit my friends and family back home as well as grub on some traditional Taiwanese food and not get diarrhea.

Recap:
Thanks to my sister's employee tickets, my bro and I gotten a decent discount. The catch is..they're also stand-by's, meaning that we'd have to gamble our luck and wish that there's empty seats on the plane for us to get on.

Michelle came by to wish us luck. She also brought us the "flight survival package", which includes snacks, snacks, and time killing gossip magazine.

//but I'm still not sure what's going on between Brad and Angelina

Luckily, there were empty seats. And yet, we were upgraded to business class. WOOT.

It was our first business class experience. Each passenger were given his/her space, which the seats that can lay completely flat, and movable TV screen that had a crap load of movies and games. I wasn't able to watch much because I spent 8 hours sleeping...given the flat seats.

Here are the cuisine that were given on the flight:
Started off with roasted peanuts and some raw salmon dessert.

The salmon tasted like crap. no joke. Even drinking Sprite had a hard time washing off the taste.
(But I was really grateful. )

Then the supper:

Waken up by the Breakfast:

The best meal was breakfast, just like the days when I had access to the dinning common in Davis. I'm not a big fan of airplane food, but the flight was good.

After 14 hours of plane ride, with a few minor turbulence, we've arrived safely to the HK Airport. Local time: 6:15 AM.

It's humongous(we had to take shuttle to our gate) and has free Wifi (mad props).

Woot, just another 2 hours of flight then it's home sweet home.

//I want to take a shower.
