With all the school stuff and TIZ things that I've been working on(Stay tune, fun things are coming your way), I haven't gotten a chance to sit down for a custom. Now that it's spring break and school side of life is chilling out, I think it's time.
I like to keep my collection of things personalized/customized instead of in the original package and crisp like how most of the collectors like it.
As far as custom goes, I've done Gundams, Munnies..
hats,
and sneakers.
Of them all, I personally like to custom toys the most.
Enough said, this is what I'll be working on.
The Gundam(BB's) my friend Jim brought me from Taiwan.
This is the original look. I'm looking for something different.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here goes:
Jim also dropped by to help me out.
The package came with multiple assemble parts.
For regular assembly, you don't cut pieces out all together; you follow the instructions and cut out accordingly.
Since I'll be repainting the pieces, best result comes when the edges are all cut off and cleaned out.
Make sure you have all the pieces. Get a basic idea on what's going down.
and plan out the color that will be applied to each part.
I stick the pieces on sticks (chopsticks) like kebabs for the paint job.
This way there won't be any finger contacts to ruin the paint.
First coat is primer. This way the acrylic paint that I'll be using would stick.
Leave them to dry.
Primer dries quite fast. Leaving it the matte look.
Then it was the steady paint job, which I didn't do quite a well job on. (More than 3 repaints on certain parts..shame)
Some of the parts required taping for a clean linear lines or shape.
Here's the guy.
Still a lot more work to do.
A basic look of what I've accomplished so far. More pictures and process coming soon.
Two things I realized after making this gundam:
1. I should do this more often.
2. I need a light box for photos.
